Florida Democrat Maxwell Frost has won the seat for Florida’s 10^th Congressional District.

Frost becomes the first member of Generation Z to serve in the United States Congress.

Frost defeated his Republican opponent Calvin Wimbish and will succeed the current Democratic Representative Val Demings.

Voters in Toledo, Ohio defeated Issue 19, a charter amendment that would have made the amendment process consistent with the process in the Ohio Constitution.

The Amendment would have also reduced the number of signatures required for an elector to initiate an ordinance or referendum from 12% to 7% of the total number of votes cast for all candidates for mayor at the most recent general municipal election.

The Amendment would have also increased the term limit for mayor from two to three consecutive terms.

The Amendment would have also increased the limit for contracts or purchases can be made without authorization by appropriate legislation from $10,000 to $25,000.

Columbus, Ohio Voters passed Issue 19.

Issue 19 is a charter amendment increasing the time that a petition committee has to gather signatures from one year to two years.

The Amendment also adds a 10-day curing period if the initial petition falls short of the required signatures, during which a petition committee may collect more signatures.

Alabama incumbent Governor Kay Ivey has won reelection in Alabama.

Ivey defeated her Democratic Opponent Yolanda Flowers.

Gov. Ivey will now serve her second four-year term.

Lt. Gov. John Fetterman won a tight race to become the Pennsylvania’s next U.S. Senator.

Fetterman, who suffered a stroke shortly before winning the Democratic nomination, defeated Dr. Mehmet Oz, a Trump-endorsed Republican.

Henderson voters have approved ballot question 1, amending the city charter to require that a candidate for city council be voted upon by only the registered voters of the ward that candidate seeks to represent.

Before today, all voters in Henderson voted for each ward representative.

The question was on the ballot after a mandate passed in the state legislature requiring Henderson to put the matter to a vote.

King County, Washington voters have approved Charter Amendment 1.

The amendment moves elections for county executive, county assessor, county director of elections, and county council members to even-numbered years.

For each position currently in an odd-year term, the current term is changed to a three year term to move to an even-numbered schedule.

Voters have approved Proposition H.

Proposition H changes city elections to even-numbered years.

The Mayor, Sheriff, District Attorney, City Attorney, and Treasurer will have their terms end on January 8, 2025, rather than in 2024 to accommodate for the new even-numbered year elections.

Voters passed seven of 13 ballot questions including measures to establish a clean elections program, ranked-choice voting, an ethics commission, and a code of ethics.

The new campaign finance rules prohibit corporate contributions to candidates for city office and prohibit ballot question contributions or expenditures from any entity under foreign influence.

The city will use a proportional ranked choice voting method for elections in which more than one person is to be elected to a single office.

City Council will form an independent ethics commission and then adopt a code of ethics as recommended by the commission.

Voters in Nevada have passed ballot question 3, which establishes open top-five primaries and ranked-choice voting for all congressional, gubernatorial, state official, and state legislative elections.

An open primary is a nonpartisan primary, from which the top five candidates, regardless of party, are sent to the general election.

Ranked choice voting allows people to vote for multiple candidates for each office, ranked in order of their preference.

Once the votes are tallied, if no candidate wins the majority vote, the lower performing candidates are eliminated until a clear winner is produced.

Arizona voters approved a constitutional amendment creating the position of lieutenant governor.

Under Proposition 131, the lieutenant governor would be elected on a joint ticket with the governor and would succeed the governor in case of a vacancy.

Arizona is one of five states without a lieutenant governor position.

As of 8:30 a.m. November 9, with 58% of the precincts reporting, the amendment passed 55% to 45%.

Alabama voters passed all 10 ballot measures, including ballot measure four.

Ballot measure four requires any bill passed by the state legislature during an election year, which affects how a general election is held, to take effect at least six months before the general election.

Arizona voters approved a campaign finance ballot measure requiring disclosure of original campaign donors.

Proposition 211 requires that anyone making independent expenditures of more than $50,000 on a statewide campaign or $25,000 on a local campaign to disclose the names of the money’s original sources, defined as the persons or businesses that earned the money being spent.

Organizations that fail to disclose would face a fine equal to the amount contributed, or up to three times that amount.

Proposition 211 applies to corporations, nonprofit groups and charities that currently are not required to disclose the names of the people who give money to political campaigns that the organization backs.

As of 8:15 a.m. November 9, with 59% of the precincts reporting, the amendment passed 72.7% to 27.3%.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves called a special session to be held to address a possible $2.5 billion business investment.

The session will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, with the expectation it will adjourn at the end of the day.
