State and Federal Communications, Inc. announces Jennifer Jaketic as a new compliance assistant.
She assists in the company’s Corporate Contribution Compliance department, also known as C3, which monitors the rules associated with corporations making political contributions.
“I like obliging by the rules and the ethical considerations of campaign finance,” Jaketic added. ”I enjoy working with numbers and the compliance aspect of it, which is why my position at State and Federal is such a valuable experience.”
“We started vetting contributions for our clients in 2008 and it is a piece of business which has grown. Nola Werren, Esq. from our staff has the experience needed with Jennifer to keep the work in progress for our clients,” said President and CEO Elizabeth Bartz.
Jaketic has more than 12 years of experience in campaign finance. Immediately following graduation from George Washington University with a bachelor’s in political science, Jaketic worked for the Federal Election Commission in its Reports and Analysis division, where she reviewed campaign finance reports of Political Action Committees. State and Federal Communications held its 6th Annual Halloween Donut and Cider Sale today in the lobby of our office. It was all for the good cause of helping our amazing friends at United Way of Summit County. We were excited to welcome Jim Mullen, United Way of Summit County’s president and CEO, as well as Sarah Catherine Teixeira, Katie Rennard, and Laura Brelin.
We knew we couldn’t host a Halloween sale without a few wacky costumes, so our office party was “pay-to-play,” with a $5 entry to star in our costumes-of-choice.
Take a look at some of the office revelry:

Elizabeth Bartz, president and CEO of State and Federal Communications, Inc., was invited to close out the last session for students in a five-week public affairs class at Kent State University. Bartz led a discussion of why it is so important to understand state and federal laws when assisting clients and how it may affect decision-making. She encouraged the students to stay true to themselves and remember to remain ethical during those tough decisions.
The class is for students in The School of Journalism and Mass Communications (JMC) who have an interest in government relations. JMC Director Thor Wasbotten also had a chance to stop by.

The number of municipalities and regional governments our research associates track continues to grow. We now cover almost 300 municipalities and local governments. This is part of a continuous effort to better serve the needs of our clients.
In that effort, we have recently added an abridged jurisdiction to our website. This entry, condensed due to the limited number of relevant local laws, provides the core information our clients need for their government relations work.
The new jurisdiction is: Lynchburg, Virginia.

Last week, I attended the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference (ALC), which was held in Washington, D.C. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. During the four-day conference, I attended a variety of sessions focusing on the issue of Health Disparities, Women’s’ Representation in the Media, Voting in the 2016 Election, and Racial Injustice — just to name a few. I found the sessions very engaging and informative. The speakers were knowledgeable and thought-provoking, and they definitely inspired me to roll up my sleeves and “stop talking and start doing!”
In addition to attending the educational sessions, the ALC is a great opportunity for networking and the exchange of ideas. I ran into some old friends, and made some new ones as well! I am looking forward to attending next year’s ALC – won’t you join me?
