The Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau activated the lobbyist registration function on their website due to the passage of Assembly Bill 110.

Lobbyists will now be able to complete registration statements for the 81st Session of the Nevada Legislature.

Pursuant to Assembly Bill 110, a lobbyist must file a registration statement not later than 14 days after March 18, 2021, or not later than 2 days after the beginning of the person’s lobbying activity, whichever date is later.

A lobbyist must also include in the first report filed after March 18, 2021, information concerning the person’s lobbying activities during the period beginning on February 1, 2021, and ending on March 18, 2021.

Oklahoma lobbyist registration renewals are due by December 31, 2015. However, the renewal software is not yet available. Lobbyists will not be able to renew registrations until the software is ready. All registered lobbyists and liaisons will receive an email with instructions when the renewal feature is available.

At the time of renewal, each lobbyist will pay a $100 annual registration fee as well as a $100 fee for each lobbyist principal registered for 2016. If the principal is registered with the secretary of state, the Guardian System will identify when a principal has been registered multiple times to ensure only one $100 principal fee is charged regardless of the number of lobbyists who register the principal.

When a lobbyist principal is not registered with the Oklahoma Secretary of State, the system will initially charge a $100 fee for each principal regardless of whether the principal has previously been registered.

The ability to pay online at the time of registration will be provided for convenience. A lobbyist can choose to pay in person at the Ethics Commission office or by mailing in the fee.

Lobbyists registering in Louisiana are now able to pay their registration fee online with credit cards. On December 1, the Lobbying Division of the Louisiana Ethics Administration Program announced this update for processing registrations for 2016.

If paying by credit card, a 2.5% convenience fee will be applied. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted. Payments by checks, cashier check, and money orders are also still accepted. The registration fee must be paid within 20 days of electronically filing a lobbyist’s registration.

The effective date of the registration will be the date the registration fee is processed.

The Oregon Government Ethics Commission has announced the date their new online filing system will go live for lobbyist registration.

Starting December 15, lobbyists should be able to register through the new online system for 2016.

The online system has been planned since 2007, and aims to increase transparency by allowing the public to view lobbying and public official financial disclosures online.

The reports can be found at: www.elec.state.nj.us. They include detailed information reported to ELEC by lobbyists and the represented entities employing them. Among the details to be found in the reports are the names, contact information, salaries, and expenses for all lobbyists registered with ELEC.

In previous years, ELEC has provided summarized information contained in the annual lobbying reports. They were not available online until now.

In addition to the reports filed by represented entities such as corporations, unions, and trade associations, the annual reports filed by grassroots lobbying groups are also available. The reports detail the funds raised by grassroots groups through contributions, membership dues, and expenses associated with the group’s communication efforts.

ELEC’s reports show total lobbyist spending reached $57.6 million in 2009 with 1,001 lobbyists registered with the commission.
