City Council approved Ordinance 52-928, concerning amendments to the ethics code applicable to city officials. Present law allows the mayor and council members to accept complimentary food at and admission to an event or meeting hosted by a nonprofit organization, educational institution or service, government, political or policy-based organization, community development organization, or faith-based organization. The ordinance expands this provision to include appointed board and commission members and their relatives, and makes other updates intended to improve clarity and transparency. The ordinance takes effect April 24.

Following a 30 day congressional review period, the Washington D.C. Fair Elections Temporary Amendment Act of 2019 is now official law number L23-0013.

The law amends the definition of a qualified small-dollar contribution to set a minimum value of cash or in-kind contributions at a value of $5.

L23-0013 became effective August 24 and expires on April 5, 2020.

Supporters of the new project said the airport had outlived its usefulness and presented the city in a poor light to travelers. The ballot measure was approved by a 3-to-1 margin.

In St. Louis, voters approved a half-cent sales tax increase for police and fire funding. St. Louis County recently approved similar funding and City officials persuaded voters the tax increase was necessary to have competitive wages.
