The South Carolina General Assembly has recessed the 2021 session on May 13, after adopting an adjournment resolution extending the 2021 session.
The General Assembly has scheduled several dates throughout the month of June to reconvene for a couple of days to address issues like the state budget, COVID-19 funding matters, and vetoes by Gov. Henry McMaster.
The resolution does not set a specific date for the end of the 2021 legislative session.
However, the resolution requires the session to conclude on or before January 11, 2022.

South Carolina House Speaker Jay Lucas and Senate President Harvey Peeler announced the General Assembly will reconvene on May 12.
The leaders made the announcement in a joint letter.
The General Assembly is expected to pass bills allowing them to take up a number of matters in a special session.
Additionally, the General Assembly will work to extend the time to pass a budget.
This work was set to be completed when they reconvened on April 8.
However, a public disagreement over restrictions on Santee Cooper led to a failure to come to an agreement.

South Carolina lawmakers will return to the State House this week to deal with unfinished legislative business after legislators extended the 2018 sine die adjournment date for the General Assembly.
Each house stands adjourned to meet in a two-day statewide session beginning May 23 and another two-day session on June 27.
Following the June session, the General Assembly will stand in recess subject to the call of the speaker and president pro tempore.
Unless otherwise adjourned sine die at an earlier date, the 2018 session will adjourn sine not later than November 11, 2018.
