Meet Our Expert: David Jones

David Jones has worked at State and Federal Communications almost half his life. He was a friend of the company and started working as an intern, next as a part-time tech assistant while in college, and then full time for the last 10 years. He currently serves as the Information Systems Engineer.
David started his career by gaining his associate’s degree from Stark State in Cisco Network Administration. He then earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics. This remains a pivotal issue with the importance of business security.
He enjoys working at State and Federal Communications as he can employ his talents and passion in protecting our systems, having some good friends, and good work being done at the company.
David’s main responsibilities in the IT Department of a small company are resolving IT inquiries for staff, managing the firewall, focusing the company on cybersecurity training, in addition to managing the hardware updates for the company.
His main satisfaction comes from keeping employees working in the way they want every day. “I enjoy wearing many hats so our staff can keep working in an uninterrupted environment at all times,” said Jones.
He is the behind-the-scenes person who ensures everyone is able to do their job better because of what he does. State and Federal Communications relies on David’s expertise to keep us current on new programs and new hardware.
This isn’t about programming, David’s job is focused on hardware, software upgrades, cloud servers, and eliminating issues on the staff’s computers. His duties of navigating servers to the cloud and directing new products and trends keep the company efficient.
David likes to fix things while away from the job – including restoring vintage computer keyboards, taking old keyboards and updating them to current standards. Additionally, he restores bicycles, having 14 bikes of his own that are historically significant. He takes old bikes, strips them down, modifies handlebars, gears, and wheels to make them the way he wants.
Jones enjoyed talking about his hobby, “My favorite bikes are the 1989 Specialized Stumpjumper and the 1994 GT Tequesta.”
