New York Legislative Ethics Commission Fines Former Assemblyman $100,000

New York mapThe Legislative Ethics Commission has fined former Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak $100,000 after the Joint Commission on Public Ethics formally accused him of violating Public Officers Law. Gabryszak’s fine is made up of $30,000 for using his office resources, including phones, computers, and printers to aid his political campaigns, and $70,000 for sexually harassing seven female staff members while in office.

Gabryszak resigned in January 2014. The $100,000 fine is the second largest civil fine ever handed out by the New York Legislative Ethics Commission.
