Missouri lawmakers will convene a special legislative session on the evening of May 18 following adjournment of the regular legislative session.

Legislators called the special session to consider impeaching Gov. Eric Greitens. Greitens is refusing to step down despite accusations of sexual and physical abuse and despite felony charges for invasion of privacy and computer data tampering.

The special session is scheduled to last for 30 days. If 82 House members vote to impeach him, the matter goes to the Senate to determine if he will be removed from office.

Gov. Kate Brown called a special session for May 21, 2018.

The session is expected to be limited to legislation reducing small business taxes.

The governor announced she wants to complete the special session in a single day.

Gov. Eric Holcomb called a special session for May 14, 2018.

On the top of Holcomb’s list is a school safety spending bill and a bill needed to harmonize state tax code with federal tax code.

The special session is expected to last one day.

Gov. Jim Justice proposed calling a special legislative session to address the creation of a Department of Arts and Culture and History.

No date has been set, but the governor stated the special session would be sometime in May.

He made the announcement during a signing ceremony for legislation dissolving the Department of Education and the Arts.

On March 14, the second regular session of the 120^th Indiana General Assembly adjourned with several bills pending on the floor.

As a result, Gov. Eric Holcomb plans to call a special session for May. On top of the Holcomb’s list is a school safety spending bill and a bill needed to harmonize state tax code with federal tax code.

Holcomb plans to set an agenda with Republican legislators before he officially calls a special session.

The 2018 Arkansas fiscal session adjourned sine die on March 12.

Following adjournment, Gov. Asa Hutchinson formally called a special session to begin on March 13.

The special session will address highway funding and pharmacy reimbursement legislation.

The adjournment date has yet to be determined.

The Louisiana Legislature adjourned a special legislative session on the state’s budget crisis on Monday night, two days before the session was scheduled end.

During the session, Lawmakers were unable to reach a deal to close the state’s $994 million budget shortfall.

State agencies who are unsure of their future funding will need to wait three to four months for a second special session to be called for a resolution, as tax bills cannot be considered during a regular session of the Legislature. Louisiana’s regularly scheduled legislative session will convene March 12 and is scheduled to end by June 4.

Gov. John Bel Edwards stated his hope for the regular session to end early to allow the Legislature to remedy the budget shortfall in a second special session in late May or early June.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson stated he is going to call a special session after the ongoing fiscal session concludes.

The special session will address pharmacy benefit managers’ low reimbursement rates to pharmacists and a current law preventing Arkansas from qualifying for certain federal highway funds.

Hutchinson has yet to set a date for the special session.

Taxes cannot be considered during a regular session of the legislature, requiring a special session to address and propose taxation legislation.

The special session must adjourn by March 7 at midnight, five days ahead of the regularly schedule legislative session set to convene March 12.

A special session to remedy the budget shortfall could also be called in June if it does not happen by March.

The North Carolina General Assembly will convene for a special session on January 10 to address several topics, including judicial reform.

Lawmakers may consider eliminating judicial elections and instead institute an appointment process for selecting judges.

On December 1, Gov. Jim Justice called a special session to convene on December 4 to consider legislation to authorize the sale of state road bonds.

The special session coincides with the Legislature’s monthly interim meetings scheduled to begin on December 3 and conclude on December 5.
