The 114th District became vacant in October after the death of State Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich, while the 190th District was vacated after Vanessa Lowery Brown was convicted in a bribery case late last year.
Candidates for the seats will be chosen by a process determined by the political parties.

After a 16-year legislative career, state Rep. Mike Pitts will step down from his House District 14 seat on January 3, 2019.
The first to announce his candidacy for the seat is Stewart Jones, a small business owner and former chairman of the Lakelands Republican Liberty Caucus.
The primary election to fill Pitts’ seat will take place on February 19, 2019, and the special election is scheduled for April 23, 2019.
If a runoff is needed, it will take place on March 5, 2019.

The special primary election will take place on January 24, 2019, with early voting starting January 4, 2019.

Candidates have until November 19 to file for the seat, but Democrats and Republicans will meet this weekend to vote for their nominees.
The seat was vacated by Congresswoman-elect Jennifer Wexton who was elected in the general election to represent Virginia’s 10th District.
The winner of the special election will complete Wexton’s term until December 31, 2019.
