Research Assistant

State and Federal Communications, Inc., an Akron-based research, publishing, and consulting company, with national presence, seeks a dynamic, well-organized professional to join our team as a Research Assistant.

The Research Assistant will report to the Research Manager and provide high level support to the Research Department. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with functions that will include the following:

Job duties include:

  • Verify contact information and link functionality of and update website as necessary

  • Verify supplemental documents are current

  • Track updates to legislative bills

  • Assist in downloading and reformatting relevant statutes and codes, rules and regulations, enacted legislation, guides, and opinions

  • Assist in the editing of monthly notifications to clients

  • Enter new and updated key dates and legislative session dates into the Key Dates Database as directed

  • Edit website entries for grammar and company preferences

  • Assist with the set-up and editing of separate publications, including guidebook

  • Create monthly tracking spreadsheets for department as needed

  • Communicate all updates to Research Associates and/or Research Manager as directed

  • Assist in special projects, general administrative, and housekeeping duties as directed

  • Provide support with general office administrative duties.

  • Maintain system to record assignments and projects to ensure deadlines are met

  • Offer suggestions for improvements to systems and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as seen appropriate by supervisor.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Individual MUST be exceptionally detailed orientated and have the ability to produce highly accurate work

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office

  • Experience working with databases

  • General knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and HTML

  • Copy editing and proofreading experience

  • Familiarity with AP Stylebook

  • Exceptional organization skills and the ability to self-manage priorities

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills

  • College degree or comparable work experience.
