SC State HouseThe Legislature adjourned on June 6, but is scheduled to reconvene on June 18, 2013. A concurrent resolution was adopted on June 5 in order to finish work on the state budget. Before adjourning, the Senate failed to vote on an ethics bill passed by the House.

House Bill 3945 would create a joint committee to replace separate ethics committees currently overseeing ethics complaints. The bill also would create new reporting requirements for late campaign contributions and additional lobbyist regulations for individuals lobbying local governments and school boards. Although the bill is dead for the year, lawmakers may take it up again next year.
